The port city of Khorramshahr, in Southwest of Iran, was liberated on May 24, 1982 after 587 days of occupation by the Ba’sthist army of Saddam. This year, however, the anniversary of this honourable and historical day falls on May 23 due to being a leap year. The strategic city was liberated through the cooperation of the Iranian Army and Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
