The outstanding characteristics of Basij Forces caused Imam Khomeini (God’s mercy upon him) and Ayatollah Khamenei to praise them and use lofty words and phrases to describe them. Perhaps, the loftiest phrase that the two leaders of the Islamic Revolution have used is “Shajar-ye Tayyebeh” meaning pure and sweet-smelling tree. This has been adopted from ayahs 24 and 25 of surah Ibrahim of the noble Qur’an.
