עשרות מומחים ופעילים בארה"ב מוכנים להעיד לטובת איראן

עשרות פעילים פוליטיים, עורכי דין ופרופסורים מאוניברסיטאות בארה"ב הביעו שהם מוכנים להתייצב בבית המשפט ולהעיד לטובתה של איראן כדי למנוע הטלת קנס על איראן על ידי ארה"ב בטענה שאיראן התערבה בפיגועי 11 בספטמבר 2001.

כך דיווחה סוכנות הידיעות "פארס" והוסיפה כי בית המשפט בניו יורק טוען שהייתה לאיראן יד בפיגועי 11 בספטמבר והחליט להוציא גזר דין לשלם פיצויים למשפחות של קורבנות בפיגועים על חשבון איראן. 

אנשי רוח ופעילים פוליטיים ופרופסורים אמריקאים שלחו מכתב לממשלת איראן והביעו שהם מוכנים להגיע לבית המשפט ולהעיד בעד איראן בתיק פיגועי 11 בספטמבר.

המכתב נשלח לאחר שבחודש מאי הוציא בית המשפט האמירקאי צו שלא בנוכחות ולפיו על איראן לשלם יותר מ-6 מיליארד דולר למשפחות קורבנות הפיגוע.  איראן דוחה את הטענה ומאמינה שאין לבית המשפט האמריקאי סמכות לשפוט את התיק.

נאדר טאלבזאדה מומחה ופעיל איראני בראיון עם "פארס" מאמין שעל איראן לשנות את גישתה ולעתור את בית המשפט ולהפריך את  הנרטיב האמריקאי על הפיגוע ולהסתייע באותם המומחים שהביעו מוכנות להתייצב לימינה של איראן. יש לציין  כי לאיראן רק יומיים לעתור למשפט.

פעילים אמריקאים מדגישים במכתב שלהם שאין בידי בית המשפט ראיות מקובלות נגד איראן. הם מתייחסים לזהותם של מבצעי הפיגוע ומדגישים כי מ-19 חוטפי המטוס בפיגוע 11 בספטמבר,  15 מהם סעודים ולא נמצא אף אזרח איראני ביניהם.
