FM: Our response to meddling to be firm, proportionate

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian slams his German counterpart’s remarks in support of violent riots in Iran as meddling in the country’s domestic affairs, warning that Tehran will give a “proportionate and firm” response to such interventionist positions.

“Provocative, interventionist and undiplomatic stances don’t signal sophistication and wisdom," Amir-Abdollahian said in a tweet addressed to German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Thursday.

He warned that undermining old ties between the two countries has long-term consequences, and added that Germany can choose between engagement to address shared challenges or pursue confrontation.

“Our response will be proportionate and firm,” the top diplomat pointed out.
