Iranians bid farewell to martyrs of Shah Cheragh terrorist attack
Tens of thousands of Iranians have bid farewell to the victims of Sunday’s terrorist attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in the southern city of Shiraz.
In a burial ceremony on Wednesday, people carried the bodies of Gholam Abbas Abbasi, who was a servant of the holy shrine, and Mohammad Jahangiri, a member of security personnel, from Shiraz’ Shohada Square to the courtyard of the Shah Cheragh shrine.
The mourners carried posters in condemnation of blind terrorist acts by Takfiri groups and their Western sponsors.
Chanting slogans such as “Down with the US” and “Down with Israel,” they called for a decisive and regret-inducing response to all the perpetrators and masterminds of the deadly crime.
Wednesday had been designated as a day of general mourning in Iran’s Fars province.
On Sunday, a terrorist from Tajikistan went on a shooting spree in the Shah Cheragh shrine, martyring two and injuring seven people. He was immediately arrested and handed over to investigators.
The Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the terrorist assault.
In a similar attack in October 2022, an armed terrorist martyred 13 pilgrims, including women and children, and wounded more than 20 others before he was shot and injured by security forces.
