Pars Today - The Iranian academic community, with a nationwide shutdown of classes and a gathering, supported the uprising of students and professors from American and European universities against Israel's crimes in the Gaza Strip.

This nationwide gathering was held today, April 28, after noon prayers in all universities and higher education institutions in Iran, with the goal of supporting the "Solidarity with Gaza" movement.

Iranian academics, in solidarity with professors and students from American and European universities, chanted slogans against the Zionist regime and global arrogance.

Mohammad Ali Zolfigol, the Minister of Science, Research, and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said today that the protests of universities around the world against the genocidal Israeli regime demonstrate the awakened conscience of academics. "Universities have always stood against oppression and injustice."

Meanwhile, students at Tehran University installed a banner at the university's main entrance, declaring their support for the Palestinian people and condemning the Zionist regime.

The banner, installed in English, reads: "In Tehran and NYC students say: From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free."

Mehdi Badpa, the head of Cultural and Social Affairs of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, announced today that Iranian university presidents had sent emails to American universities, stating that the recent student uprising in support of Palestine in the US and Europe is the largest anti-Israeli protest in the West since the establishment of the regime, and marks the revival of the student movement in the US and Europe against Israel.

Also yesterday, Saturday, some Iranian universities, in addition to issuing separate statements in support of European and American academics who show solidarity with Palestine, held gatherings in educational spaces to condemn Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people.

American and European universities have witnessed widespread protests by students and professors in recent days, condemning Western governments' support for the Zionist regime in the Gaza war. Many students and faculty members have been arrested during these protests.

American and European students, who are demanding that their universities cut financial and moral ties with Zionist supporters, have declared that they stand on the right side of history with these protests.

They say they are proud of themselves and these protest movements, a pride that is no longer limited to American and European universities, but is shared by the entire world.

American and European students are seeking accountability from their university administrators, whom they consider complicit in Israel's war crimes. They argue that these administrators have not stopped investing in companies that support the war.

Several American university retirement funds have also invested in Zionist companies that, according to the United Nations, are involved in the Gaza war.

Students are also demanding that their universities cancel agreements with Zionist institutions in occupied territories.

The Israeli regime, with the full support of Western countries, has launched a new wave of massacres against the defenseless and oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since October 7, 2023.

According to the latest reports, over 34,000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 77,000 injured in the Zionist regime's attacks on Gaza.

The Israeli regime was established in 1917 with the scheme of British colonialism and through the migration of Jews from various countries to Palestinian lands, and its existence was declared in 1948. Since then, various plans for mass killings have been carried out to exterminate Palestinians and occupy their entire territory.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a serious supporter of the dissolution of the colonial Israeli regime and the return of Jews to their original homelands.
