Pars Today- The balance of power in the world is not manifested merely with outward pomp and awe and superpower appearance. It is necessary to resist. The Iranian nation, for instance, resisted and triumphed both in the revolution and the events after it.

God says in verse 30 of chapter Fussilat of the holy Qur'an, "Indeed those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah!' and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, [saying,] 'Do not fear, nor be grieved! Receive the good news of the paradise which you have been promised.'"

Here we are going to have a look at Imam Khamenei's explanation about this verse and the example he gives of the Iranian society.

Servitude of God

Our heart and soul are constantly being eroded in the face of daily events. One should take these erosions into account and provide appropriate means to compensate for them. Otherwise, human being will perish. Human being might become sturdy and fat materially and physically, but if he does not think of compensating for these erosions, he will perish spiritually. "Our Lord is Allah" means to admit servitude before God and submitting in front of Him. This is a very great thing, but it is not enough.

Steadfastness

Thus, God says, "then remain steadfast." They are steadfast and remain in this path. This is what causes "the angels descend upon them", or else, the angels of God will not descend upon man with a single moment and a period of being good. Saying is easy; acting is difficult. Continuation of the action is much more difficult. Some only say. Some show this saying in action, but cannot tolerate against the events of the world, against storms, against mockeries, against taunts, against unfair enmities. Therefore, they are stopped. Some [others] are not content with stopping and turn back.

Man who has no fear and grief

When human being has no fear and grief, it is because he does not lose anything. Firstly, there are many successes in this path. Secondly, if human being loses something, since it is in the way of duty and fulfilling a divine obligation, his conscience is calm, like the families of martyrs whose children have been martyred and they are bereaved, yet they are happy wholeheartedly.

Iranian steadfastness and sweet fruits of steadfastness

The balance of power in the world is not manifested merely with outward pomp and awe and superpower appearance. For example, the Iranian nation was steadfastness and triumphed, both in the revolution and the war that Saddam has waged with the US support, and after the war. Today, also, it is steadfast and it triumphs. These pressures that are seen- propaganda, political, economic pressures, and treacherous and wicked choosing of friends inside the country by the enemy- are because the Iranian nation, according to the verse, "they said, 'Our Lord is Allah!' and then remain steadfast", has announced vociferously and stood firmly on the word of truth and its legitimate and logical demand which is to overtake its own affairs and cut off the interference of foreigners and rely on the divine law and religion. Today, due to this very steadfastness of the Iranians, the US' power and its awe as a superpower have perished and nations have woken up and are brave and intrepid. The result is that Almighty God sends down his mercy and blessing, "the angels descend upon them, [saying,] 'Do not fear, nor be grieved!" And as we can see there is no fear of the enemy in the hearts of the Iranian youths.

Almighty God has given a definite promise that, "Indeed those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah!' and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, [saying,] 'Do not fear, nor be grieved!" The result of steadfastness in the right path is that Almighty God will take grief and fear from a man and a society and will bestow success upon them. This is the path of God. The path of God does not mean worshipping and sitting in a corner. The path of God means to lead human society to happiness. The Iranian nation chose this path- that is, the path of justice, the path of fairness, the path of the divine servitude, the path of equality of human beings, the path of brotherhood of human beings with each other, good morals and virtues, and human merits- and has persisted in this path, too. It has confronted with the hardships in this path and has not feared them. Naturally, God will cause it taste the sweet and pleasant fruits of this steadfastness.
