  • Iran's reaction to Microsoft's alleged report: US election internal issue of this country

Pars Today - The Islamic Republic of Iran's mission to the United Nations rejected Microsoft's report on Tehran's interference in the 2024 US presidential election through cyber-attacks, stating that the US election is an internal issue of the country.

The American company Microsoft recently claimed in a report that the Islamic Republic of Iran has increased its efforts to interfere in the US presidential election in November and to strengthen the polarization of the country's political society, through its hackers and fake news websites.

The Iranian mission to the United Nations issued a statement rejecting Microsoft's claim, stating that Iran has been the victim of numerous offensive cyber operations targeting its infrastructure, public service centers, and industries. Iran's cyber capabilities are defensive and proportionate to the threats it faces.

The Iranian mission also emphasized in the statement that Iran has neither the intention nor plans to launch cyber-attacks. The U.S. presidential election is an internal matter in which Iran does not interfere.

Previously, the Iranian mission to the United Nations had responded to a question about US intelligence officials' claims about Iran's efforts to disrupt the US election and negatively impact Donald Trump's campaign, stating that Iran does not engage in any objectives or activities intended to influence the U.S. election and that a significant portion of such accusations are characterized by psychological operations designed to artificially pep up election campaigns.

It is worth noting that 81-year-old Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, who was embroiled in a scandal during his recent debate with Donald Trump, eventually withdrew from the presidential election under pressure from his fellow party members on July 21, 2024, and was replaced by Kamala Harris from the Democratic Party.

Americans will go to the polls on November 5, 2024, to elect their next president. The winner of this election will begin the four-year term as president in January 2025.
