Kharrazi: We have experienced various US methods against Iran, from sabotage to supporting Saddam and sanctions
Sahab - The head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized Iran's readiness to negotiate with the United States and counter pressure at the same time.
Kamal Kharrazi, head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said in an interview with Lebanon's al-Mayadeen news network on Monday that efforts to overthrow the Iranian government are not new and added that these efforts have been going on since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution. It is natural for Iran to respond to any aggression, as it has done so far, and if they want to take action against Iran on the nuclear issue, Tehran will respond appropriately at the right time.
According to Pars Today, Kharrazi continued: "The plan to overthrow the Iranian government is an American-Israeli project that has been proposed since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and we have experienced various hostile methods of the Americans, whose goal is to change the system. They tried to overthrow the system. Then they supported Saddam to overthrow the Iranian government, and after that, they imposed sanctions on Iran and tested all hostile ways. But what is clear is that their maximum pressure has suffered a humiliating defeat.
He also emphasized Iran's readiness to negotiate with the United States and counter pressure at the same time.
Kharrazi added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran must be strong in the face of threats. What creates deterrence against their conspiracies is authority. Iran has many capabilities, and its enemies are also aware of Iran's potential and practical capabilities.
Reasons for the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government
The head of the Strategic Council on Foreign Relations of Iran also spoke about the reasons for the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government, saying that the United States has always been opposed to Bashar al-Assad's government and has sought to overthrow it. He added that the events in Syria are an American-Israeli plan.
According to Kharrazi, other groups and countries, including Turkey, have also played a role in these events. Turkey had geographical and historical disputes with Syria, which motivated Turkey to provide logistical and training support to the opposition forces to enter Syria.
Reasons for the presence of Iranian forces in Syria
Kharrazi said about the presence of Iranian forces in Syria: "Iran's main goal in supporting Bashar al-Assad's government was to fight against Takfiri groups, not only for Syria's security but also for Iraq's and Iran's security, and therefore, Takfiris had to be confronted.
This Iranian diplomat emphasized: "The opposition, which has taken control of the Syrian government, has not taken any action against Iran so far, so Iran's behavior and positions towards the opposition are based on their behavior and positions in the future, and for Iran, Syria's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity are important.
Reasons for the Zionist regime's aggression against Syrian territory
Kharrazi said about the reasons for Israel's aggression against Syrian territory: "Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of the Zionist regime, announced in 1996 that the only solution to the Palestinian issue is to overthrow the governments that support Palestine, and this strategy was again raised in the US Congress in 2002. What happened now is the implementation of this strategy, and the United States also supported this strategy.
