  • Iran's Foreign Minister: Future of West Asia to be written by regional nations, not in foreign capitals

Pars Today- Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, referring to Iran's clear message to the world community, said, "Sustainable peace in West Asia will be feasible only through empowerment of regional players."

According to Pars Today, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in an article on the specialized magazine of Tehran Dialogue Forum, under the heading, "Building a New Reality for Region towards Stability of Ruling and Solidarity in West Asia", wrote, "The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that security challenges are interlinked in West Asia and, innately, common among the regional countries; as in countering terrorism, migration stemming from climate changes, cyber threats or economic fragility, no country is separate from the fate of its neighbors. Therefore, formation of a collective structure based on mutual respect, non-interference and regional ownership is not an option but a vital need."

Araghchi added, "The world community should face [accept] this reality that the Zionist regime which is systematically violating the international law, resorts to unbridled militarism and enjoys practical impunity, cannot have a place in any structure of sustainable regional security."

Iran's foreign minister reiterated, "The future of West Asia will not be drawn up in the foreign capitals, but will be written with the hands of the regional nations through the structures which reflect their collective history, culture and determination. If the region is to get rid of the repeated cycles of divergence, the next decade should be concentrated on building institutions, trans-border cooperation and prevalent ruling."
