Pars Today – Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday night issued a statement condemning US interference against Cuba.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the statement by Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns US interference against Cuba, including inhumane sanctions imposed on the country and attempts to threaten and intimidate Cuban officials and public figures. In this regard, it considers the issuance of an arrest warrant for former Cuban President Raúl Castro a criminal and illegal act and strongly condemns it.

“Undoubtedly, the policy of sanctions, pressure and intimidation that has been imposed on the Cuban people for more than seven decades violates the Charter of the United Nations and contravenes the principles and rules of international law and human rights. The US government must be held accountable for the disastrous consequences of this policy for the fundamental human rights of the Cuban people.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its solidarity with the government and people of Cuba in the face of the criminal actions of the United States and stresses the need to respect Cuba’s national sovereignty, independence and the Cuban people’s right to self-determination.”
