Iran FM felicitates Eid Al-Adha, warns of attempts to divide Muslims

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated Muslims across the world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, warning about enemies' plots to create a rift among them.

"In trying times — and as some may try to divide us — the Muslim world comes together to celebrate Eid-al-Adha. Wishing fellow Muslims everywhere a very happy Eid," Zarif wrote on his twitter page on Tuesday.

Eid al-Adha, also called the "Festival of Sacrifice", is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year (the other being Eid al-Fitr), and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) (PBUH) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. Before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead.

In relevant remarks on Monday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a message to the Hajj pilgrims blasted the US for its warmongering policies in the Middle East and provoking differences among Muslims to massacre them by fellow brothers.

"The US is inciting the Muslims to fight against each other," the Supreme Leader said in his message.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that US' essential policy against Islam and the Muslims is warmongering.
