World community fails to resolve crises / forced refugees\\\' number reaches 120 million

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced in its latest report that the number of forced refugees (euphemistically called forcibly displaced) has reached 120 million in the world.

This report, pointing to the increasing trend of the number of forced refugees in the past 12 years, reiterates that the rise of this number to 120 million in 2024, reveals new and changing conflicts and the failure of the world community to resolve crises. According to Pars Today, the statistics released by the UNHCR, show the number of the world refugees equal to the population of the 11th most populous country in the world, namely, Japan.

One of the key causes of this increase in the number of the forced refugees in the world is the incidence of destructive clashes in some countries, including Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Myanmar: in the end of 2023, approximately 10.8 million Sudanese became forced refugees.

Now, the war in Gaza has also increased the number of the forced refugees in the world.

The United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) has estimated that till the end of last year, more than 1.7 million (75 percent) of the population in the Gaza Strip have become forcibly homeless because of the Israeli violence and crimes.
