Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council
Pars Today – The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council emphasized the continuation of national resistance in the face of Western pressure.
Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the West believes it can weaken Iran’s resilience through economic pressure. However, he added, the Iranian nation will overcome this phase through resistance and faith.
According to Pars Today, citing Mehr News Agency, Larijani added that in the issue of the snapback mechanism, all efforts were made to reach an agreement; however, the Western countries set a condition that Iran must reduce the range of its missiles to below 500 kilometers. “In fact,” he said, “they sought to take away the Iranian nation’s most important defensive weapon, while this matter is directly tied to our national security.” He emphasized that if Iran is to maintain national resistance, the country must stand united and speak with one voice in the face of such pressures.
European lawmaker criticizes failure to condemn U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran
Marc Botenga, a Belgian member of the European Parliament, questioned the body’s double standards in his remarks. Addressing his colleagues, he asked: “Why should we accept that Israel possesses nuclear weapons? This is absolutely unacceptable. You call Iran the main threat, yet look at Israel — it has bombed Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, and recently Qatar.”
Botenga went on to ask his colleagues another question: “Why do you neither acknowledge nor condemn the fact that it was the United States that withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal? It was the U.S., not Iran, that walked away from the agreement.”
The European Parliament member added, “Finally, I want to know why we — the European Union — fail to condemn the illegal attacks by the U.S. and Israel, during which many Iranian citizens were killed.”
