Pars Today – The U.S. president’s special envoy for nuclear negotiations with Iran said that Trump has been surprised by Iranian officials’ unwillingness to surrender.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. president’s special envoy in nuclear talks with Iran, said in an interview with Fox News that Donald Trump is surprised by the refusal of Iranian officials to surrender.
Witkoff said, “I don’t want to use the word ‘surrender,’ but the U.S. president is curious why senior Iranian officials have still not capitulated.” He added, “Despite heavy pressure and the significant U.S. naval presence in the region, why have the Iranians still not agreed to halt their nuclear program?”
The U.S. president’s special envoy also addressed the nature of a potential agreement with Iran, stating, “Before the start of the talks in Geneva, Donald Trump ordered that zero enrichment and the removal of Iran’s nuclear materials are Washington’s red lines.”
Referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s insistence that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, Witkoff claimed that Iran is enriching uranium at levels beyond its civilian needs.
