American senator: Americans oppose war with Iran

A U.S. senator stated that the American public opposes war with Iran and does not want Washington to enter a new conflict in West Asia.

Andy Kim, a senator from the state of New Jersey, reacted to recent threats by Donald Trump against Iran on X, stating that U.S. public opinion does not support military action.

Last week, Kim said he asked people in New Jersey whether they wanted the U.S. to attack Iran, and received no affirmative responses.

The possibility of war with Iran has recently become a major topic in U.S. political debates following Trump’s threats of potential military action if a nuclear agreement is not reached. Kim also reposted a report by The New York Times highlighting these threats and emphasized that Americans do not want a war with Iran.

The senator had previously criticized a report by CNN regarding possible U.S. military readiness, writing that war with Iran would bring no benefit. Andy Kim asked whether such a war would make Americans safer or help them pay their bills more easily, arguing that Donald Trump was pushing the country to the brink of war without justification, planning, or regard for the public.

Meanwhile, officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have repeatedly emphasized Iran’s legitimate right to peaceful nuclear energy use, stressing that any military action against the country would face a firm and severe response. Tehran has also underscored its commitment to diplomacy and negotiations based on mutual respect, describing policies of pressure and threats as ineffective.
