UN condemns 6 decades of US "economic genocide" against Cuba

Pars Today – The United Nations Human Rights Council, condemning what it called "six decades of economic genocide" against Cuba, has said that the US unilateral coercive measures have had devastating consequences for the Cuban population, especially women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and those suffering from chronic diseases.

According to a Pars Today report citing IRNA, the United Nations Human Rights Council, in a report on the consequences of the United States' unilateral coercive measures against Cuba, described this policy as the oldest example of such measures in the history of US relations with the country.

This report, presented by the special rapporteur of the Human Rights Council, citing specific statistics and figures, explains the dimensions of the damage and consequences resulting from the intensification of the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.

According to this report, these unilateral coercive measures have left devastating effects on the entire Cuban population, and vulnerable groups, including women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and those suffering from chronic diseases, have been affected more than others.

The Human Rights Council emphasized in this document that Cuba, due to the consequences of unilateral coercive measures, faces serious obstacles in the path of realizing a number of human rights. The report refers in this regard to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the US government against the island.
