Hundreds of pro-refugees demonstrators have gathered in the Belgian capital, Brussels, calling for a new EU migration policy.
According to Press TV, the demonstrators called on the European Union to provide safer and legal migration routes into the continent. They also held a long list of migrants who had lost their lives as they tried to reach the European shores.
The demonstration was held a day before the meeting of the EU leaders in Brussels. The bloc’s leaders will decide how to share the responsibility of the migrants by setting national refugee quotas.
Eastern European countries, however, oppose a mandatory quota scheme, creating political wrangling among the bloc’s members.
