The Islamic Republic of Iran maintains one of the most effective and democratic political and electoral systems in the world. As a matter of fact, election is the main pillar of the system of popular religious rule in Iran; hence, people's participation in elections is important, and is one of the benchmarks of legitimacy of the Islamic Republic.
