Destruction of Baqi cemetery: A timeless tragedy

We offer heartfelt condolences to our listeners on the doleful day of the desecration and demolition of the Sacred Jannat al-Baqie Cemetery in the holy city of Medina on this day 96 lunar years ago in 1344 AH by the heretical Wahhabi hordes of Abdul-Aziz Aal-e Saud following their blood-soaked occupation of Hijaz, the Land of Divine Revelation.

“Your grave and that of your sons are among the edifices of paradise and among its fields.”

This is what Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) when asked by his dear Cousin, Son-in-law, and Divinely-Designated Successor, Imam Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) of “the reward of those who visit our graves, embellish them and maintain them.”

This statement of the Messenger of Mercy is found in all relevant Islamic texts, including those of out Sunni brethren, who have diligently recorded in their hadith collections the habit of the Prophet of Islam in regularly visiting the Baqi Cemetery of Medina and saluting his deceased companions. They have also narrated from him rewards reserved by God Almighty for Muslims who visit the graves of their brethren-in-faith to recite the requiem.

The Prophet of Peace used to say: "Peace upon you, O Abode of the Faithful! God Willing, we will soon join you. O' Allah, shower mercy on the denizens of al-Baqi".

 He also said: “Whoever visits my grave but does not visit the grave of my uncle Hamza, has indeed been unkind to me.”

It was not for no reason that the Seal of Prophets bequeathed to the Ummah these immortal guidelines for greeting in the proper manner those who while alive had served the cause of Islam and departed from the world as true Muslims.

 He knew that a time will come when hypocrites masquerading as Muslims would desecrate the graves of Muslims, and will not even hesitate to demolish the blessed tombs of martyrs, including the holy shrines of the Infallible Imams of his Household, the Ahl al-Bayt, whose pristine purity has been vouchsafed by God Almighty Himself in the holy Qur’an.

Today, the 8^th of Shawwal is the 96^th lunar anniversary of the sacrilege committed by the Wahhabis at the Baqi Cemetery, where in addition to the tombs of the aunts, an uncle, wives, and companions of the Prophet, these Godless hordes destroyed the most hallowed edifice of all, the domed white mausoleum under which reposed in eternal peace, four of his twelve Infallible Heirs – Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba, Imam Zain al-Abedin, Imam Muhammad al-Baqer and Imam Ja’far as-Sadeq (peace upon them).

The Aal-e Saudi vandals intended to demolish the sacred mausoleum of the Almighty’s Last and Greatest Prophet as well, and an ungodly Wahhabi terrorist had climbed the green dome with a pickaxe, when divine wrath struck him. Fear of the Muslim World, which might mount a joint operation against his blasphemous rule, rather than fear of God, made Abdul-Aziz Aal-e Saud desist from destruction of the Prophet’s shrine.

Abdul-Aziz for whom the British created the spurious entity called Saudi Arabia in 1932 and installed as king for his intense hatred of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA), did not content himself with the destruction of Jannat al-Baqie, but went on to demolish the tombs of the Martyrs of the decisive Battle of Ohad, including the Prophet’s uncle, Hamza (AS).

He simultaneously ordered his hordes to desecrate and destroy the other sacred cemetery of Islam, that is, Jannat al-Mu’alla in Mecca, where rest in peace the Prophet’s loyal wife, the First Lady of Islam, Omm al-Momineen (Mother of True Believers) Hazrat Khadija, the Prophet’s infant son, Hazrat Qassem, the Prophet’s uncle and guardian, Hazrat Abu Taleb, the Prophet’s grandfather, Hazrat Abdul-Mutalleb and other members of the monotheistic Bani Hashem clan (peace upon them all).

This desert brigand from Najd, a land which the Prophet of Islam had cursed, thus committed an unpardonable sin and crime against humanity. He also sowed seeds of discord amongst Muslims in order to pave the way for planting of the illegal Zionist entity in Palestine in 1948.

The Wahhabis thought that through such devilish acts they would erase memories from Muslim minds of the Prophet’s Ahl al-Bayt, little realizing that those chosen and exalted by God are always alive in the hearts of the faithful.

For years, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Muslims around the world have been urging Riyadh to rectify its misconstrued policies and allow the Muslims to rebuilt the Jannat al-Baqi Cemetery, but to no avail, since the Aal-e Saud, as is evident by their policies bow at the altar of the US and do not even want the Palestinian Muslims to regain their birthrights or liberate the occupied Islamic city of Bayt al-Moqaddas from Zionist control.

May God damn these seditionists who continue to terrorize Muslim lands and shed torrents of blood in the interests of their masters, the Zionists and the Crusaders, as is evident in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Yemen, and in other places, where these unholy cowards trigger bomb blasts in buses, in markets, and in mosques to kill innocent people. 

In addition, these Salafis – another name for the Wahhabis – indulge in the most heinous acts such as tearing the livers and hearts of their victims and eating them raw – in the manner of Hend, the wife of the pagan Arab chief, Abu Sufyan and the grandmother of the tyrant Yazid, who tore the liver of the Prophet’s uncle Hamza and chewed it.

Nonetheless, the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt are confident that the day will soon dawn when these oppressors and desecrators of holy shrines will vanish like thin air from the Land of Revelation, as was the fate of the Khwarej, of the Omayyads – who had twice stormed the holy K’aba with fire and brimstone – and of the Qarameta (Qarmatians), who had attacked the holy Ka’ba and taken away the Sacred Black Stone, which was returned 27 years later.

How did the despicable Wahhabis emerge in the heart of the Muslim World?

The answer is obvious. It was colonial Britain which created them in order to divide the Muslim Ummah, just as the Americans are churning out Takfiri terrorists of all hues and colours today, in complicity with the Saudis, who have been given the green signal to rain bombs upon Yemen, crush the Bahrainis, destabilize Syria and Iraq, and terrorize the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The first time the Wahhabi terrorists caught the world’s attention was in 1801 when these desert brigands led by a certain Abdul-Aziz ibn Mohammad Aal-e Saud attacked the holy city of Karbala in Iraq. Thousands of people, mainly Shi’a Muslims were massacred, including women and children. The Wahhabi terrorists did not limit themselves only to killing Muslims but devastated the holy shrines including that of Imam Husain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAWA). This plunder and sacrilege of Karbala by Abdul-Aziz, who after stripping the dome of its gold, took to Najd the massive loot of jewelry, coins, Persian carpets and other valuables loaded on hundreds of camels, brought swift retaliation in 1803 from a Kurd Shi’a Muslim, who disguised himself as a an Arab to kill him for his crimes against Islam.

Abdul-Aziz’s son, Saud, continued the same bloodthirsty and blasphemous ways, attacking the holy city of Mecca in 1803. In their nihilistic zeal, the Saudis destroyed shrines, historical monuments and literally bulldozed Islamic heritage in Islam’s most holy city. But Aal-e Saud’s first tryst with power did not last long. In 1812 the Ottomans deputized Mohammad Ali Pasha of Egypt to recapture lost territory and push the group out of Hijaz. Saud and his seditious forces were driven back to Najd. Saud died in 1814 and was succeeded by his son Abdullah.

In 1818 the Wahhabi state ceased to exist with the fall of its capital Diriyah to Mohammad Ali Pasha’s son, Ibrahim Pasha, who seized Abdullah and sent him to Istanbul, where he was decapitated for crimes against Islam.

A century later, when the Ottoman Empire was crumbling, the Aal-Saud under the leadership of Abdul Aziz ibn Abdur-Rahman and with the active support of the British seized Hijaz in 1926, desecrating the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, and massacring of tens of thousands of Muslims. They went on to take control of the Red Sea port of Jeddah, occupy the large oil-rich Shi’a populated al-Ahsa that stretched to the Persian Gulf coast, and seize Najran, Jizan and Aseer from Yemen.

Ever since, Wahhabi terrorism, now in open alliance with the illegal Zionist entity, Israel, under the blessings of godfather US, has knew no bounds. Today the Muslim World is being preyed upon by the al-Qa’eda, Taleban, Daesh, Boko Haram, Lashkar-e Jhangavi and other similar devilish outfits.

To stem the rot, it is essential for the Ummah to knit ranks, heed the statements of the Prophet, and press for reconstruction of the Sacred of Baqi Cemetery of Medina. Unless the holy shrines of the Infallible Imams are restored to their past glory, any talk of liberation of Bayt al-Moqaddas from the Zionist yoke is mere prattle. It is time the Saudis should be taken to task to end their state terrorism all

In the meantime, let us turn towards the direction of Jannat al-Baqi and recite the greeting with which Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) used to salute the grave of this Sacred Cemetery:

"Peace be upon you, O Abode of the Faithful! God Willing, we would soon join you.”
