  • What fatwa did Imam Khomeini issue 58 years ago on boycotting Zionist regime?

Pars Today- Late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini (God’s mercy upon him) issued a fatwa (religious decree) regarding the boycott of the Zionist regime on June 7, 1967.

June 7th marks the anniversary of the issuance of a fatwa by Imam Khomeini (God’s mercy upon him) regarding the boycott of the Zionist regime. According to Pars Today, in a message issued on the occasion of the Six-Day War between Arabs and the Israeli regime, he issued a revolutionary fatwa declaring as forbidden (haram) any commercial or political relations between Islamic governments and Israel, as well as the consumption of Israeli goods in Islamic societies.

The text of Imam Khomeini's message is as follows:

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Time and again, I have called upon Islamic governments to unite and foster brotherhood against foreign powers and their agents. These forces aim to keep our beloved nations enslaved and subjugated by colonialism, exploiting their spiritual and material resources, by sowing discord among Muslims and Islamic governments.

I have repeatedly warned governments, especially the government of Iran, about Israel and its dangerous agents. This corrupting entity, which has been placed in the heart of Islamic nations with the support of major powers, and whose roots of corruption threaten Islamic countries daily, must be uprooted through the resolve of Islamic nations and the great peoples of Islam. Israel has launched an armed uprising against Islamic nations, and it is incumbent upon Islamic governments and peoples to eradicate it. Any assistance to Israel, be it the sale of weapons, explosives, or oil, is forbidden (haram) and against Islam. Any relationship with Israel and its agents, whether commercial or political, is forbidden (haram) and against Islam. Muslims must refrain from using Israeli goods. I ask God Almighty for the victory of Islam and Muslims.

Seyyed Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini
