  • Japanese PM criticizes Donald Trump

Pars Today - The Japanese prime minister, criticizing the approach of the US president, stated: “When we are supposed to negotiate with the American side on tariff and trade issues, it is unreasonable to simultaneously address defense and security matters.”

Shigeru Ishiba, a few days after his close aide met and conferred with Donald Trump and other senior US officials about Washington's new tariffs, stated on Sunday that Tokyo will not discuss security-related issues in its trade talks (discussion on trade tariffs) with the United States, noting that Trump wants to reduce defense spending in Japan. The Japanese prime minister, therefore, emphasized that his country will strengthen its cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the European Union. / IRIB news agency
