SCO foreign ministers' meeting begins in China
Pars Today – The two-day meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s foreign ministers began on Tuesday in the port city of Tianjin, China, with the participation of Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, China’s top diplomat Wang Yi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and other foreign ministers from SCO member states.
The primary goal of the meeting is expected to be reviewing the latest political, security, and economic developments in the region, and coordinating preparations for the upcoming SCO leaders' summit scheduled for autumn in Tianjin.
Key topics include expanding security cooperation in counterterrorism efforts, promoting multilateralism, enhancing regional trade, and strengthening the organization’s role in Eurasian geopolitical arrangements.
Reports indicate that bilateral meetings will also be held on the sidelines of the event. Iran’s participation is viewed as an opportunity to advance economic, transit, and security cooperation with other SCO member states.
