PGSA warns ships against using unauthorized routes in Persian Gulf

Pars Today – The official social media account of the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has warned shipowners that some charterers are forcing vessels to navigate through unauthorized routes.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, the official PGSA account issued a warning to shipowners regarding the requirement imposed by some charterers for vessels to use unauthorized routes.

The full statement by the Persian Gulf Waterway Management Authority reads:

“Reports have been submitted to PGSA indicating that some charterers are forcing vessels to navigate through unauthorized routes.

In addition to potentially causing financial and human losses to the vessel, its owner, captain and crew, such action could also lead to serious restrictions on the vessel’s future passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Shipowners are urged to exercise due diligence regarding such unlawful actions by certain charterers. Furthermore, if a charterer is found to be in violation, the company will be added to the Non-Compliance List (NCL), and all vessels associated with it will face restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz.”
