Araghchi: US repeatedly disrupted negotiations by breaking commitments + Video
Pars Today – Iran’s foreign minister has stressed that the United States repeatedly disrupted diplomatic processes by breaking its commitments and resorting to force during a meeting with Iraq’s prime minister in Baghdad.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who had traveled to Baghdad to attend the 52nd meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), met and held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on Saturday evening.
During the meeting, Araghchi thanked the Iraqi government and people for hosting the meeting and stressed the importance of making greater use of the OIC’s potential to address issues facing the Muslim world, particularly Palestine and the Israeli regime’s expansionism and warmongering.
Referring to the very good relations between the two neighboring Muslim countries, Iran’s foreign minister reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s determination to further strengthen ties with Iraq in all areas of mutual interest.
The two sides also discussed the latest regional developments.
Outlining Iran’s positions and views on peace and stability in West Asia, Araghchi noted that the root cause of insecurity in the region was the Israeli regime’s occupation and expansionism. He said that, particularly over the past three years, the regime had carried out military aggression against Lebanon, Syria and Iran while committing genocide in Palestine, endangering global peace and security.
Araghchi highlighted Iran’s commitment to using diplomacy to prevent further escalation of insecurity, recalling that it was the United States that had repeatedly disrupted diplomatic processes by breaking its commitments and resorting to force, thereby undermining the security of international commercial shipping.
During the meeting, Araghchi and the Iraqi prime minister also discussed the Saudi-Yemeni conflict and ways to help end the naval blockade of Yemen and reduce tensions.
