Pars Today – The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay has condemned the assassination of two staff members of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) — Nima Rajabpour and Ma'soumeh Azimi — in an Israeli regime strike on June 15, 2025, which targeted the IRIB's Glass Building.
Azoulay called for a swift and thorough investigation into the incident. She emphasized that media infrastructure, under international humanitarian law, is considered civilian and must be protected.
The UNESCO chief also urged respect for UN Security Council Resolution 2222 on the protection of journalists during armed conflicts.
