Pars Today- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed hope that his visit to Turkmenistan would provide a suitable opportunity to further expand Iran’s relations with its neighbors and reduce the impact of the naval blockade. He said Iran’s enemies could not easily blockade the country, as Iran shares borders with 15 countries and can maintain economic, commercial, political and security exchanges through each of these routes.

According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Pezeshkian made the remarks on Thursday before departing for Turkmenistan, where he was scheduled to attend and address two summits as a special guest: the summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the environmental summit of the heads of Caspian Sea littoral states.

“The Caspian Sea is an asset for future generations. If its environment is damaged, it will create numerous problems for the countries along its shores,” the Iranian president said.

He added that pollution, declining inflows and the drying up of the Caspian Sea, as well as increased fishing, were among the challenges facing the region. He said discussions on these issues were planned during his visit.

Pezeshkian stressed that the visit to Turkmenistan would also offer a good opportunity to hold talks with participating countries on multilateral relations, countering unilateralism, cooperation in the energy sector and other political, economic, social and security issues.

He noted that the relevant ministers had traveled to Turkmenistan as part of various commissions and that discussions were already underway. The visit, he said, offered a valuable opportunity to deepen relations with neighboring countries and reduce the difficulties caused by the naval blockade.

“Enemies cannot blockade Iran so easily, because Iran has 15 neighboring countries and can maintain economic, commercial, political and security exchanges through each of these routes,” he said.

Pezeshkian concluded by expressing hope that the visit would achieve its intended and previously established objectives.
