IRGC: Targeting journalists is a direct attack on freedom of expression

Pars Today – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), while condemning the crimes of the Zionist regime and the martyrdom of journalists in Gaza, stressed that targeting journalists is a direct attack on human principles and freedom of expression.

In a statement issued on Tuesday condemning the crimes of the Zionist regime and the martyrdom of journalists in Gaza, the IRGC emphasized: “The recent crime of the Zionist regime in targeting journalists and media professionals in Gaza—especially the martyrdom of six devoted, courageous, self-sacrificing journalists on the front line of reporting the cries of oppressed men, women, and children of this region, including Anas al-Sharif—is a direct assault on human principles and freedom of expression. This unjust act targets not only human rights but also the right of nations to know the truth.”

The statement went on to say: “In today’s cognitive warfare, journalists stand against lies and distortions with their pens and cameras, and by narrating the truth, they shoulder the great responsibility of transmitting awareness to human societies.” / IRNA
