Europe worried about strained relations with Washington over Greenland

Pars Today — European diplomats have warned that Donald Trump’s approach toward Greenland could escalate tensions between Europe and the United States, and even put additional pressure on Ukraine.

Several European diplomats told The Wall Street Journal that EU-U.S. relations have deteriorated and have increasingly become focused on financial and strategic interests. According to them, there is serious concern that Trump might leverage measures such as reducing support for Ukraine to pressure Europe into accepting his demands regarding Greenland.

CNN also reported that Washington is seeking to implement a form of joint control over Greenland with Denmark. Despite some signs of willingness to compromise, recent statements from the White House indicate full readiness to pursue Trump’s plans concerning this strategic island.
