Leader appoints new heads for charity foundations
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has appointed new chiefs for the Mostazafan Foundation and Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, Iran’s main charity organizations.
In a decree on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei said Parviz Fattah would replace Mohammad Saeedikia as the Head of the Mostazafan Foundation for a five-year term.
Before being appointed to the new post, Fattah was in charge of Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, Iran’s largest charity organization.
A minister of energy under former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Fattah has also served as a local commander in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.
Also in another decree on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei has appointed Seyyed Morteza Bakhtiyari as the new Head of Imam Khomeini Relief Committee.
The Leader also thanked Saeedikia for his services and appointed him as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mostazafan Foundation.
Based on a decree by Imam Khomeini (God’s mercy upon him), Imam Khomeini Relief Committee was established in March 1979 as a charity organization to provide assistance and support to the poor in Iran. The body mainly relies on donations by people although it also receives some funding from the Iranian administration as well.
