Leader: Islam elevates women, while the West turns them into commodities
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in his video conference on Wednesday on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of the Noblest Lady of all times, Hazrat Fatema az-Zahra (SA), the Immaculate Daughter of the Almighty’s Last and Greatest Messenger, Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), focused on the diametrically opposite views of women from the viewpoints of Islam and the secular West.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said: “Islam's outlook toward women is based on respect, while the West views women as mere objects and commodities. In Islam, there's no difference between men and women in terms of divine and humanitarian values. We're proud of Islam's viewpoint, whereas we totally object to the Western outlook.
He said: “Of course, besides their common duties, both men and women have specific duties as well, since God has created them physically different.
He further said: “The West’s propaganda that Islam and the Hijab impede the progress of women is a blatant lie. History bears testimony that at no other time, Iranian women became educated and active in political, social, cultural, scientific, artistic, economic, and other fields, as they are today, thanks to the victory of the Islamic Revolution.”
As pointed out by the Leader: “Islam's outlook on women paves the way for women to play the pivotal role in the family, along with the blessings of motherhood, since the strongest bonds of intellectual/spiritual training are formed in the family, in sharp contrast to the West’s view and its undermining the pivotal role of mothers in the family.”
The 20th of the Islamic month of Jamadi al-Akher, which happens to be the birthday of Hazrat Fatema (SA), who gave to the world impeccable children who continue to be role models for virtuous societies till this day, such as sons Imam Hasan and Imam Husain, and daughters Hazrat Zainab and Hazrat Omm Kolsoum (peace upon them), is celebrated every year as “Mother’s Day”.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in his speech dismissed the propaganda and threats of the US and the West against the Islamic Republic, saying: “They are incapable of adopting any anti-Iranian measures.”
He added: “Though there might be some problems or ups and downs in society, but on the whole Iran is steadily marching towards progress. So, rest assured, the enemies cannot do a damn thing against Iran in view of the growing power and dignity of the Islamic Republic.”
