Iran: Global conscience awakened to apartheid Israel’s barbarism

Iran’s administration has reiterated its support for the Palestinian nation oppressed by the apartheid Zionist regime, saying global conscience is today awakened to the acts of barbarism being perpetrated by the Israeli regime.

According to Press TV, speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday, Ali Rabiei, the administration’s spokesman, said the issue of Palestine has once again turned into a moral campaign in the world, and that calls for justice and freedom for Palestine are being heard from across all continents.

“These days, we witness that the Zionist regime is shamelessly committing crimes against the oppressed people of Palestine in a forceful and oppressive manner, regardless of the most basic international principles, treaties and resolutions,” he said.

Rabiei also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s support for the Palestinian cause, saying Iranians have long stood by the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom.

The blockaded Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank have been simmering with rage in the past weeks over the regime’s scheme to forcefully and illegally expel dozens of Palestinians from their homes in the volatile Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of al-Quds as part of a long-running scheme to Judaize Palestinian lands.

The anger further intensified earlier this month with Israeli regime attacks on Palestinian worshipers in the al-Aqsa Mosque complex during the fasting days of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Amid the tension, the illegal Zionist entity launched yet another brutal aerial campaign against mainly civilian targets in Gaza on May 10. Since then, at least 212 Palestinians, including 61 children and 36 women, have been martyred and 1400 others injured in the Israeli onslaught.

“These days, the racist and apartheid nature of the Zionist regime is evident for the entire world,” Rabiei said.

“Today, the global conscience is awakened in the face of the barbarism that has pervaded the 21st century. We still keep standing alongside the Palestinian people in support of this global urge for justice and insist on upholding the rights of the oppressed nation in accordance with international law and norms.”
