Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the significant role that the country’s artists and cultural figures can play in the international arenas to thwart attempts at fomenting Iranophobia.

“There are attempts to make the world afraid of Iran and Iranians, and the soft power capable of countering such plot and portraying the real image of civilized Iran to the world is undoubtedly people's involved in culture and art,” President Rouhani said in a gathering of Iranian artists and cultural figures in Tehran on Thursday night, Tasnim News reported.

He also noted that Iran can have good interaction with the international community and seize the regional and international opportunities if it exposes its genuine, powerful cultural image.

In various events, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has also emphasized the significance of artistic activities to promote Iran’s position in the world.

In March 2015, the Leader called for the employment of different branches of art, including cinematic projects, to introduce the great job the Iranian people did during eight years of Iraqi imposed war against Iran in the 1980s.
