Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei extended the tenure of three clerics in the Constitutional Council on Saturday.

According to Tasnim news agency in separate decrees on Saturday, Ayatollah Khamenei reappointed Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, Ayatollah Seyed Mohammad Reza Modarresi Yazdi and Ayatollah Mahdi Shabzendedar as the members of the Constitutional Council.

The term of the three clerics as the member of the Council had expired after six years.

The Constitutional Council is a constitutionally mandated 12-member council in Iran that, among other things, is tasked with ensuring the compatibility of the legislation passed by the parliament with the criteria of Islam and the Constitution.
