Every year in the lunar month of Dhu Al-Hijjah, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Ghadir. Shias in Iran commemorate the occasion in large gatherings this year after easing COVID restrictions.

Eid al-Ghadir, held on the 18th of the Muslim month of Dhu Al-Hijjah, is amongst the most significant feasts of Shia Muslims. On this occasion, almost 1,400 years ago, Prophet Muhammad (Blessings of God upon him and his progeny) appointed Imam Ali (PBUH) as his successor.
