Iran and Turkey have held three days of fruitful talks on water supply issues in their border regions, according to a report by the Iranian Energy Ministry.

A Monday report by the Regional Water Company of Iran’s West Azarbaijan province said that the water talks held in various Iranian and Turkish cities, including Iran's Orumiyeh and Turkey's Yüksekova, had been organized by foreign ministries of the two countries.

The report said talks had focused on creating a proper path for the flow of water in border regions between Iran and Turkey during floods, especially in areas near the Iranian city of Sero.

Other issues discussed included measures to protect the Marmisho Lake and dredging of the river flowing into the lake, the report added.

According to the report, representatives from Iran’s ministries of interior, energy, and defense as well as the border police also attended the water talks between Iran and Turkey, adding that the two sides signed a joint document at the conclusion of the negotiations.
