Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says the implementation of bilateral agreements reached between Iran and Oman have gained momentum, especially after President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi’s visit to the West Asian country.

According to Press TV, the top diplomat made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the end of this two-day visit to Oman on Wednesday.

“I can confirm that especially following President Raeisi’s visit to Muscat last year, the process of the implementation of agreements have gained great momentum,” he said, referring to a visit by Iran’s president to Oman in May 2022.

“Various state and private sectors from both sides have worked actively and ambassadors and diplomats in Tehran and Muscat have also taken effective measures,” he said, citing remarks by Oman’s sultan Haitham bin Tariq who praised the good measures that have been adopted concerning bilateral ties in the past year.

Amir-Abdollahian said bilateral cooperation in the energy field has progressed very well and agreements have also been made to develop trade, economic and investment cooperation.

The FM said he had also discussed the issue of talks for the removal of sanctions against Iran.

“Oman is always eager [to see] that the talks aimed at the removal of sanctions will reach a desirable conclusion. Some ideas were proposed in this regard which we were informed of,” he said, hailing Oman’s “constructive” role and the “sincere intention” behind its efforts to facilitate talks.

Among other topics discussed with Omani officials, the FM said, was the conflicts in Yemen and Ukraine.

Following his trip to Oman, Amir-Abdollahian left the Arab country for Lebanon for an official two-day visit.
