Oman’s foreign minister in Iran; talks on Gaza war high on agenda
Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi is in Tehran to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on the regional and global issues, not least Israel’s brutality in the besieged Gaza Strip.
According to Press TV, heading a high-ranking delegation, Albusaidi arrived in the Iranian capital on Sunday, three days after the Israeli regime ramped up its savage attacks on Gaza at the end of a seven-day ceasefire.
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian welcomed his Omani counterpart upon arrival. The duo discussed a range of key issues of common concern, including ways to boost cooperation.
Amir-Abdollahian and Albusaidi also exchanged views about the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, the need to establish a permanent truce and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-stricken people.
Iran has encouraged all Muslim countries to increase efforts to stop the crimes of Israel.
Qatar was the chief intermediary in negotiations between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel that led to the ceasefire starting November 24. The lull in the fighting allowed the badly-needed humanitarian aid to reach people in Gaza while Hamas and Israel exchanged captives and prisoners.
More than 600 people have been martyred since early December 1, when Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza.
Nearly 15,000 people, a significant part of them women and children, were massacred in Israel’s attacks before the Qatar-mediated truce came into effect.
The aggression began on October 7 hours after Hamas launched an unprecedented military operation into the Israeli-Occupied Territories of Palestine near Gaza.
