Iranian Hodhod and Kowsar in orbit
Pars Today- Iranian satellites Hodhod and Kowsar were launched to the space successfully.
Researchers of an Iranian space knowledge-based company, after designing and making two satellites of "Hodhod" and Kowsar", succeeded on Tuesday November 5 to inject them to the 500-kilometer orbit from the Russian base of Vostochniy by the spacecraft Soyuz.
Kowsar satellite is the first space product of the Iranian Omidfaza company which has the standards of cubic satellites to reduce time and cost of construction process.
This satellite has an orbital lifespan of 3.5 years and is suitable for agricultural, mapping and cadastral purposes.
Hodhod, also, has the standards of cubic satellites and has the mission of providing narrowband Internet of Things (IoT) services.
Hodhod satellite, weighing 4 kilograms and having orbital height of 500 kilometers, has a 4-year lifespan and used for agricultural, mapping and environmental purposes.
According to Pars Today, quoting from Tasnim news agency, Hassan Salarieh, Head of Iran's Space Agency, announced after launching the satellites, "This year, we have 5-7 domestic and international launchings some of which will be carried out by Simorgh and Qaem launchers."
Salarieh added, "Sending of a human into the space and space studies compose part of the space strategy document of Iran which we will approach materialization of these objectives with the support of private sector and domestic ability."
