Baghaie: Arrest of Israeli regime officials is responsibility of ICC member states

Pars Today - The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran today, Monday, condemned the continuation of the Zionist regime's brutal attacks on Palestinian refugee settlements and tents in Gaza, including in the al-Nusairat camp, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of innocent people, including children.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Gaza City Defense, announced on Sunday night: In the past 24 hours, at least four schools and Palestinian refugee shelters in Gaza have been targeted by Zionist occupiers, resulting in the martyrdom of 50 people so far.

According to Pars Today, Esmaeil Baghaie, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described as shameful the inaction of international institutions and the UN Security Council in the face of the ongoing genocide of Palestinians due to the US's all-out support for the Zionist regime, and called for urgent action by the international community to stop the genocide in Gaza and prosecute and punish the leaders of the occupying regime for committing heinous crimes.

Recalling the ICC's rulings for the criminal prosecution and the arrest of senior Israeli officials for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, Baghaie further noted that it is the responsibility of ICC member states to enforce arrest orders and the duty of all states under general international law to ensure respect for international humanitarian law and prevent genocide.

He emphasized that the Zionist regime, in addition to committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, has undoubtedly committed two other crimes under the jurisdiction of the ICC, namely the crime of genocide and the crime of aggression.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also referred to the Zionist regime's disregard for the ICC's rulings to stop the genocide and refrain from taking actions contrary to the genocide convention, and emphasized the need for the international community to take necessary measures to hold the occupying regime accountable for its persistent violations of international law and to compel it to comply with the judgments of the UN’s judicial body.

It is worth noting that the Israeli genocidal regime, with the all-out support of the United States and some other Western countries, has launched a massive massacre against the defenseless and oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, the number of martyrs in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has reached 44,976, and the number of wounded has reached 106,759.
