Pars Today- The head of Iran's Pasteur Institute has announced the export of more than 700,000 doses of Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine to Venezuela.

Head of Iran's Pasteur Institute "Ehsan Mostafavi “said on Saturday: The BCG vaccine, which is used to prevent tuberculosis, has been continuously produced at the Pasteur Institute of Iran since the Iranian calendar year 1326 (1947-1948) and is considered one of the strategic products of this institute with international standards.

According to Pars Today, Mostafavi, stating that more than 700,000 doses of the BCG vaccine have been exported to Venezuela, emphasized the necessity of developing health diplomacy.

The head of Iran's Pasteur Institute considered the export of the BCG vaccine to Venezuela a successful example of health-oriented international interactions, which can be recognized as a model for expanding Iran's scientific and technical influence in the global health arena.

The head of Iran's Pasteur Institute also pointed to the institute's future plans for expanding its vaccine export portfolio, stating: Now, by identifying international capacities and the health needs of various countries, we are seeking to develop the diversity of vaccines and export products and ensure their continuity.

It is worth mentioning that the Pasteur Institute of Iran, as the oldest and one of the most reputable scientific and health centers in Iran, with more than a century of activity in the field of public health, has played a significant role in controlling and preventing infectious diseases in Iran and the region.

Among the prominent achievements of this institute is the production and supply of vital vaccines for diseases such as cholera, smallpox, rabies, hepatitis, typhoid, and tuberculosis; the vaccines that have not only met Iran's domestic needs but have also been exported to various countries in the past decades.
