Pars Today – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that some countries are using the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for political purposes, and that the agency must act impartially, fairly, and justly.

Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the Center for Political and International Studies, said in an interview with the Russian network RT that the recent actions by the three European countries and the United States to activate the “snapback” mechanism are illegal and invalid. He stated that Iran is prepared to confront sanctions and restrictions.

According to Pars Today, citing Tasnim News Agency, Khatibzadeh added that this move is not only legally void, but also strategically misguided, as it has rendered Europe and the United States insignificant on the global stage.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, referring to the support of over 100 countries in the Non-Aligned Movement for Iran and their refusal to recognize the sanctions, emphasized that Iran pursues a coherent foreign policy based on international law, and that the unilateral U.S. sanctions are illegal and unjust.

Khatibzadeh also stated that Iran has always fully cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and that all its facilities are under strict supervision. However, he added, Israel’s aggressive actions and U.S. support have disrupted the cooperation process.

He emphasized that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) must be a neutral and technical institution that protects nuclear facilities, rather than becoming a tool for political objectives.

The Head of the Center for Political and International Studies at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “Force and domination do not bring peace. The path to establishing justice and security in the world lies in cooperation and respect for international law. Iran continues to preserve its right to self-defense and seeks to ensure that global attention is not diverted from Israel’s aggressions and the issue of Palestine.”
