Pars Today- Iran’s interior minister has stressed the continuation of bilateral cooperation, following extensive and fruitful meetings with senior Qatari officials and agreements reached in various fields.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, who traveled to Qatar to meet with Qatari officials, said bilateral issues and matters concerning the two interior ministries, including organized crime, coast guard cooperation, security issues and the fight against drug trafficking, were discussed. He added that it was agreed that a security expert-level meeting would be held immediately after the Iranian delegation’s visit and that such meetings would continue.

He also announced constructive talks on trade relations between Iran and Qatar, saying: “Issues related to trade relations between the two countries and ways to increase interactions were discussed and decisions were made. Talks were also held regarding Iranian pilots, and it was agreed that a technical delegation would return to Qatar and hold meetings to continue the work.”

Referring to Qatar’s special position in Iran’s foreign policy, Momeni said: “The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to pay special attention to neighboring and regional countries. Regionalism and neighborhood are firm policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He added that the issue of facilitating visa procedures between the two countries was also discussed, with good assistance provided and agreements reached. “Immediately after this meeting, an expert-level session will be held to implement the agreements, and they will be put into effect according to a specific timetable,” he said.

Momeni also referred to the Qatari side’s emphasis on the quality of Iranian products and the positive view of the Qatari people toward these products, describing this as one of the important points of the talks.

He added that regional developments under the current circumstances were also discussed, saying that, overall, the meeting was “good, useful and forward-looking.”
