Pars Today – The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on X, in reaction to the U.S. naval blockade of Iran: The United States’ action in blockading Iran’s ports or coasts is not only a violation of the ceasefire mediated by Pakistan, but is also illegal and criminal.
According to Pars Today, Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the U.S. naval blockade of Iran violates Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter; this action, under Article 3(c) of UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 (1974), is considered an act of aggression, which explicitly includes the blockade of a country’s ports or coasts.
Baqaei added: Furthermore, by deliberately imposing collective punishment on the people of Iran, this action amounts to a war crime and a crime against humanity.
