Pars Today – Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations stated that Israel is making a desperate attempt to distort reality and mislead the Security Council by portraying the aggressor as the victim.
According to Pars Today, Amir Saeid Iravani, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, said in a letter on Thursday to UN Secretary‑General António Guterres and the President of the Security Council:
“In response to the March 25, 2026 letter from the representative of the Zionist regime to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council, and its attachment—which is correspondence from the foreign minister of the Zionist regime—I would like to inform you that the mentioned letter and its attachment contain baseless, unjustified, and unfounded accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations added: “This constitutes yet another example of this regime’s desperate attempt to distort reality and mislead the Security Council by portraying the aggressor as the victim, while concealing its own blatant violations of international law and the UN Charter, and attempting to justify its unlawful acts of aggression against Lebanon and other countries in the region.”
Iravani emphasized: “The Islamic Republic of Iran firmly rejects these unjustified and baseless references and accusations and considers them merely a pretext to justify the Zionist regime’s continued violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006), as well as its ongoing violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the perpetration of grave war crimes against innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure in Lebanon.”
The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations further stated: “The Zionist regime has continuously and deliberately refused to fulfill its international obligations or halt its blatant and ongoing violations—violations that have repeatedly been officially documented by the Government of Lebanon in its correspondence with the Security Council and the Secretary‑General.”
