Pars Today – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, reacting to the French foreign minister’s claim of concern for the Iranian people, wrote in a message that such remarks represent the height of duplicity and hypocrisy.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, wrote in a social media post addressed to the French foreign minister:
“Mr. Minister, it appears that hypocrisy and duplicity remain defining features of France’s political culture to this day—the very vice that Molière aptly described in his 1664 play Tartuffe, or The Hypocrite, when he observed that ‘hypocrisy has become fashionable.’”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson continued:
“You remained silent while Iranian cities were being brutally bombed and innocent Iranians were being massacred in Minab, Tehran, Lamerd, Isfahan, and elsewhere. In doing so, you effectively became complicit with the aggressors. Yet today, in pursuit of your regime’s political interests, your conscience has suddenly and selectively awakened, and you shamelessly lecture others about the human rights of Iranians.”
Baghaei concluded:
“What a Tartuffe!”
