Pars Today – Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the airstrikes carried out by the terrorist U.S. military on the evening of Friday, June 26, 2026, targeting several locations along Iran's southern coastline.
According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Saturday:
"The savage U.S. attacks, which targeted Iran's coastal surveillance facilities, constitute a clear violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, as well as a blatant breach of Paragraph 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding on Ending the Imposed War, dated June 18, 2026.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry, while reaffirming Iran's inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran will defend the country's sovereignty, security, and national interests with all its capabilities.
The statement added:
"The defensive strikes carried out by the powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran against targets associated with the invading U.S. forces were conducted on this basis. It is self-evident that responsibility for the consequences of this situation rests with the aggressive and treaty-breaking U.S. regime, as well as with any parties that, in any way, cooperate in or facilitate the United States' acts of aggression against Iran."
In this regard, the Foreign Ministry also emphasized the need for all countries located along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf to adhere to the principle of good neighborliness and to observe the fundamental principle of international law requiring states to prevent aggressor parties from using their territory or facilities to carry out acts of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also called on the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN Security Council, and other relevant international bodies not to remain indifferent to the United States' blatant violations of the fundamental principles and rules of the United Nations Charter and international law.
The statement urged these institutions to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities in safeguarding regional and international peace and security.
