Pars Today — Iran’s president, in a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s prime minister, stressed that mutual respect and practical commitment to obligations are prerequisites for any lasting agreement.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday evening that preserving political processes and ensuring lasting peace and security in the region require all parties to honor their commitments and refrain from any actions that could escalate tensions.

The two sides also emphasized the expansion of bilateral cooperation and the continuation of political consultations aimed at strengthening regional stability.

During the conversation, the Iranian president expressed appreciation for the presence of Pakistan’s high-ranking delegation at the funeral and memorial ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, describing it as a sign of the strength of strategic relations, the deep historical, cultural, and religious ties, and the solidarity between the two nations.

Pezeshkian also commended the responsible positions and efforts of the Pakistani government in supporting de-escalation and advancing political initiatives in the region.

The president said that alongside political efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and prevent the crisis from escalating, a dual-track process has emerged in which, on the one hand, the Zionist regime and groups supporting destabilizing policies, and on the other, the United States government, by reneging on their commitments, are seeking to disrupt existing processes and prevent peace and stability from taking hold in the region.

Pezeshkian stated, “Mutual respect and practical commitment to obligations are prerequisites for any lasting agreement.”

The Iranian president also reviewed the course of economic cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the need to expedite the implementation of joint agreements and to further activate the relevant institutions in the fields of trade, agriculture, transportation, industry, and other areas of cooperation.

Pakistan’s prime minister also described the presence of his country’s high-level delegation at the funeral and memorial ceremonies for the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution as a duty arising from the brotherly relations between the two countries.

Expressing concern over the possibility of renewed tensions, Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need for continued political efforts, restraint by all parties, and the creation of conditions conducive to consolidating the ceasefire and establishing lasting peace.

Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s position in the region, the Pakistani prime minister said, “More than ever, the region needs peace, stability, and cooperation, and Pakistan is determined to continue its consultations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in a serious manner.”

At the end of the conversation, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing political consultations and following up on the implementation of the economic and trade agreements between the two countries.
