Pars Today – Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, responded to claims by the U.S. Treasury Secretary by reposting an article by Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman, which described the Treasury secretary as a liar and criticized his complete failure in managing the markets.
According to Pars Today, citing IRNA, Qalibaf on Saturday night posted on his X account, mocking U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s claim that 130 million barrels of oil had passed through the Strait of Hormuz over a two-week period.
Qalibaf wrote: “For real 130s, tell your staffer to pull Moody's showing $130+ billion in war costs, and ask another how much Jane Street burned north of $130 million shorting oil for you in just one futures roll.”
Qalibaf added: “Liar liar yields on fire.”
