Pars Today – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stressed that the Iranian people are determining their own destiny and will not back down under pressure, adding that they stand even more firmly in the face of coercion and threats.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Gharibabadi wrote on social media in a message marking the anniversary of the August 19, 1953 coup:

“The August 19, 1953 coup was the direct intervention of the United States and Britain in the will of the Iranian people and their right to determine their own destiny—a historical event that can neither be whitewashed nor forgotten.”

He added: “Foreign interference in the destiny of a nation, whatever name it is given, constitutes colonialism and an assault on the people’s right to sovereignty.”

Gharibabadi said: “Generations come and go, but one truth remains unchanged: a country that hands control of its destiny to a foreign power will pay a heavy price.”
